Certification
Building certification makes it possible to make informed choices concerning materials, processes, climate and environmental factors, as well as conditions for the building’s users. It also provides a common framework for the project’s decisions and the associated documentation. Nordstern has therefore set a target for all new residential and office buildings from 2023 onwards to be certified under a recognised certification scheme
A better future
All new residential and office developments initiated from 2023 onwards must be certified. We achieved our target in 2024, when 100% of newly initiated residential and office developments were scheduled for certification. Residential developments are either certified under the Nordic Swan Ecolabel or DGNB-certified, while commercial developments are DGNB-certified.
We advise our clients on selecting the best solutions for their buildings and their users. We do this to comply with applicable legislation and the client’s requirements concerning areas such as materials, climate and environmental factors, indoor climate and functionality for the building’s users.
For Nordstern, however, these efforts extend far beyond the buildings themselves. We also work to safeguard and improve the health and wellbeing of our employees. Every day, we strive to create the best possible setting for the lives and enjoyment of the people who use our buildings, for example by developing community-oriented urban districts. This is our contribution to a better future for Denmark.
Our targets are supported by the following initiatives:
- A person is appointed at every construction site with responsibility for areas including materials and climate and environmental matters relating to both the site and the building.
Internal training in the DGNB certification scheme.

A process ensuring that Nordstern’s Building Technology Centre of Excellence provides support and guidance at the appropriate stages throughout the lifecycle of a certified project.

A DGNB inspection plan for the construction management team and DGNB requirements in subcontractors’ inspection plans are incorporated into Dalux as standard.

Supporting tools for DGNB certification, including contract documentation, benchmark costs, checklists and construction-site information boards.

A checklist of energy- and resource-saving measures for the construction site.
