Construction of The new Sølund

The project includes the construction of 'The New Sølund' with a total area of 49,386 sq m.

The new Sølund will be built as a block of nine buildings with three courtyards in the centre. The site comprises 360 care homes, service areas, one day care centre, 150 youth housing units, 22 senior housing units, two to three commercial leases and parking areas including an underground car park.

The ground floor runs across the buildings, connecting them as an urban street with various services and meeting places that can be used by residents and the public. The urban street area consists of a garden room, activity centre, training room, workshop, library, kiosk, bakery and a café where communal dining is available. The purpose of the urban street and courtyards is to open up the development to the public and invite different generations and neighbourhoods to come together.

Underneath the building there is a basement with storage space, facilities for building operations, a production kitchen, staff changing rooms, a technical room and 189 car parking spaces (122 public and 67 reserved for residents of Det nye Sølund).

The roof is split in two, with one half having rooftop terraces for residents to enjoy, and the other half featuring sustainable initiatives such as solar panels, solar heating and sedum planting.

The buildings will be constructed in two phases with three handover dates in April 2026, July 2027 and March 2029. The care centre and day care centre in the existing Sølund will remain in operation during the construction of the New Sølund, but will change location depending on the execution of the project.
