Demolition of existing buildings and construction of new garage buildings

Nordstern has constructed four new garage buildings at the barracks in Holstebro for the Danish Ministry of Defence Estate Agency (FES).

Each building is 3,375 sq m and contains a standard single-storey garage. Three of the buildings have three stories with offices, bath and toilet facilities, together with storage, cleaning and equipment rooms. The last building has a briefing room and gun-cleaning room instead of an office.

There are service workshops in the garages, where tanks can be inspected, serviced and repaired.

29,000 sq m of pavement was laid around the buildings, and there is a parking area dedicated to heavy vehicles.

As part of the project, Nordstern demolished 17 buildings, and was responsible for the demolition and environmental remediation of the existing environmental site, and the creation of a new environmental site.

98% of the material from the demolished garages was recycled: the iron was melted down, the concrete crushed and reused, the bricks cleaned and reused, and the roofing felt recycled.
