Construction of public housing for PAB and 155 homes for Plushusene

Tømmerup Parken

Residential area with 103 public housings and 155 private homes in the Plushusene concept

Nordstern developed and built public housing and private homes in collaboration with PAB and Plushusene. The project was carried out in close collaboration with Tårnby Municipality with a focus on creating a better and more cohesive residential area, in which community and leisure are paramount.

Tømmerup Parken has different types of housing: e.g. terraced homes, multi-generational homes and tower blocks of apartments. This makes the area interesting to a wide range of residents.

The public housing part of Tømmerup Parken consists of 103 public housing homes: a combination of terraced houses, tower blocks and multi-generational homes. There is easy access to communal outdoor areas, providing the option of privacy and spending time with the family. Outdoor areas include an open-air playground with a SUDS (sustainable urban drainage systems).

The private homes were built by Plushusene, as part of the Plushusene concept: the focus was on creating traditional co-housing communities, but with room for privacy.

In collaboration with Nordstern, Plushusene built 155 homes: 55 terraced houses, 14 multi-generational homes with 28 apartments, and four tower blocks with 72 apartments. Adjacent to the homes is a communal building with a service kitchen and a smaller gym, encouraging co-living in line with the Plushusene concept, and the vision of creating a unified residential area.

The project focused on sustainability with DGNB Gold certification of the private homes, waste sorting and the purchase of green power from renewable energy sources on the construction site. The sustainable measures applied to both the private and social housing, even though the public housing homes are not certified.

The project follows DGNB manual 2020 Renovation and new construction. Tømmerup Parken has undergone a pre-certification and the project is moving towards a final DGNB Gold certification. The pre-certificate is issued in 2023.

“The development of the new neighbourhood here in Tårnby is a great example of the urban development of the future. The Plushusene co-housing community concept prioritises sustainability in environmental, economic and social terms. It takes into account trends such as health and community – trends that will define urban development in the future.”
