Sluseholmen has evolved from an industrial area to a modern canal district featuring different types of housing and services.
Nordstern was responsible for seven projects in Sluseholmen: Lærkeholm, Molehuset, Granholm, Hasselholm, Kastanjeholm N, Kastanjeholm S and Magnolieholm. Nordstern is currently working on one more projects: Elmeholm.
Kastanjeholm S consists of 247 small homes – primarily for students and other young people. The homes range in size from 30 to 70 sq m with private bathroom, toilet and kitchen. There are also communal areas, including a kitchen, study zones, a gym and a roof terrace, encouraging a sense of community among the neighbourhood's residents.
In part of the raised ground floor, there is a 1,400-sq m daycare centre to serve the City of Copenhagen.
The basement has waste management, technical and storage rooms, bicycle parking and a car park with 25 parking spaces.
The total project at Sluseholmen comprises 1,268 homes and 12 commercial premises. The homes vary in size, making Sluseholmen interesting to different types of family setups.
The project follows DGNB manual 2016 Apartment buildings and terraced houses. Kastanjeholm has undergone a pre-certification and the project is moving towards a final DGNB Gold certification. The pre-certificate is issued in 2024.
