New school building to replace Kilden, which burned down in 2018
Nordstern has constructed the new hall at Sct. Ibs School to replace Kilden, which burned to the ground in May 2018.
Students and teachers are involved in the process of creating the new facilities. The school has appointed seven staff members who engage in an open and close dialogue with the advisors and Nordstern throughout the entire process – from the idea phase to final execution. The school’s students are involved in the idea development phase, which has ensured a value-creating process for all parties. This process has ensured that the school's culture and values have been incorporated into the new building from the beginning, including Kilden’s core principles of light and community.
The extension has been constructed while Sct. Ibs School is still in use. Therefore, safety is a high priority, ensuring that both students and school staff can move safely within the school grounds.
The building includes an atrium/canteen, production kitchen, classrooms, wood workshop, stage, and entrance hall with skylights and a seating staircase that slopes down towards the hall – like an amphitheater. The school’s new area creates space for community beyond the purely academic content of a school.
