Conversion of a congress center with commercial leases into apartments

Scandinavian Center

11,000 sq m building converted from commercial use to 133 apartments

The Scandinavian Center has been converted from a congress center with commercial leases into shared apartments targeted at young people. The building was constructed in the 1990s and is located in central Aarhus. Nordstern has renovated and converted the Scandinavian Center for Interessentskabet af 23. december 1991 by ATP Ejendomme.

The 11,000 sq m building has been converted from commercial use to 133 apartments. The apartments range in size from 60 sq m to 120 sq m with two to four rooms. The apartments are designed as shared apartments with rooms, living room, kitchen, and bathroom.

During the conversion, private balconies were added to the apartments.

The former covered parking area has been converted into a communal courtyard with benches and plantings, inviting social interaction. Walkways surround the inner courtyard and serve as access to the apartments.

The conversion took place while the rest of the Scandinavian Center was in use, with a particular focus on ensuring access routes and minimizing inconvenience for the center's users.
