Construction of a new residential neighbourhood

Risskov Husene

208 housing in six apartment blocks with 161 apartments and 47 terraced houses

Risskov Husene is a new residential neighbourhood in Vejlby, Aarhus, built on the 21,000 sq m site that previously housed Vejlby School.

The old school has been demolished and 208 housing have been built on the site, divided into six apartment blocks with 161 housing and 47 two-storey terraced houses. The apartments range from 50 sq m to 120 sq m in size. All apartments have balconies facing south and west.

With its varied apartment types and terraced houses, the development creates a versatile residential context, while also allows for a diverse mix of residents through a variety of architecture and interior design.

Bricks from the demolished school have been reused in the construction of Risskov Husene, which also contributes to a varied expression in the facades of the buildings. The project has also created green recreational areas between the buildings.

The old 450 sq m auditorium building has been preserved and serves as a community centre for the site's residents, who have also been involved in its development.

Risskov Husene is DGNB Silver certified according to DGNB manual Renovation and new construction. The certification is issued in 2024.
