Renovation of 232 public housing units and construction of 93 new youth housing units

Ringgården Unit 21

Public housing in eight apartment blocks in two neighbourhoods

Renovation of 232 public family housing for Boligforeningen Ringgården. Ringgården was built in 1970-1973 and consists of eight blocks divided into two residential blocks. In addition to the renovation of the public housing, an extra floor has been built on the roof, consisting of 93 new youth housing units with terraces and communal living spaces.

The renovation followed a tight and detailed schedule, with the work in each of the 20 blocks set to last ten weeks per block (eight apartments per block). The ten weeks were divided into six weeks for bathroom renovations, followed by four weeks for kitchen renovations.

New windows and doors have been installed. To minimise inconvenience to residents, the replacement of windows and balcony was carried out on the same day.

The 70 accessible housing units and the 93 new youth housing units have been retrofitted with new installations. All apartments have decentralised ventilation systems.

Lifts have been installed in eight of the 28 stairwells in total. In these stairwells, the apartments were converted into accessible housing, and the residents were rehoused in the meantime. The flats were emptied one by one, and the residents moved temporarily or permanently to rehousing organised by Ringgården. Nordstern assisted with timely information, adherence to the overall schedule and good access. The remaining 20 stairwells were renovated while the flats were occupied.
