Court building with courtrooms, office facilities, and meeting rooms

The court in Svendborg

Two-story court building with seven courtrooms, office facilities, and meeting rooms

Svendborg's new district court has been constructed in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) by a consortium consisting of Nordstern, property management company DEAS, and investors PensionDanmark, PKA, and Sampension.

The court building is a development project that, with the planned holistic solution, unites the needs of the public party, users, and private actors. The project ensures construction expertise, innovation, solid operation, and efficient maintenance for the first 20 years of the court building's lifespan.

Planning and constructing a court building is a complex building process. There were specific requirements from the court regarding the placement of individual rooms in relation to each other.

The Court in Svendborg is a modern and functional building, prominently located in Svendborg with a view over Svendborg Sound. Previously, the Court in Svendborg was spread across several addresses in Svendborg, but with the new court building, around 40 employees are now gathered at the same address. The building has two floors, with the court housing seven courtrooms on the ground floor and a first floor for staff with secure zones, including meeting rooms and office facilities.

The court building is energy-efficient and has a good indoor climate. The building is equipped with full BMS/KNX control of the indoor climate, including ventilation with integrated cooling, heating, lighting, and external solar screens. CO₂ sensors measure the air quality in the rooms, and the ventilation starts when there is a need to refresh the air and cool the room.

The building has improved conditions for users, including lay judges, lawyers, the press, police, and the prosecution. Security has been enhanced while maintaining accessibility to the courthouse. The building has a comprehensive fire alarm and public address system, and an extensive access control system, ensuring the building's access functions.

"The project is a good example of what the goal of PPP is: to create effective solutions that benefit employees, citizens, and society. And at PKA, we are naturally pleased that we can also generate a good return for our members."
