Conversion of a wing in the former Horsens State Penitentiary into a culture and conference hall

Vestsalen is a renovated wing in the former Horsens State Penitentiary, providing a framework for new activities. Additionally, the experience company FÆNGSLET ensures an event area for larger gatherings.

The project involves the opening of the building's west wing, creating a space – Vestsalen – of approximately 1,200 1,200 sq m for new activities. The left prison yard is covered with a transparent roof, connecting it to the west wing and the largest of the prison yards. This streamlines the connection between outdoor and indoor areas. In addition to renovating the Vestsalen, a new entrance, toilets, changing rooms, a cloakroom, kitchen, storage rooms, and more have been established.

The renovation was carried out while the rest of the building was in use.
