Construction of new school in Ry

Nordstern is set to construct Søhøjlandets School and Daycare in Ry for Skanderborg Municipality. The school and daycare will be housed within the same two-story building. The school will be a three-stream institution accommodating up to 500 students and 50 staff members, while the daycare will provide space for 50 nursery children, 100 kindergarten children, and approximately 40 staff members.

The ground floor will include the daycare, primary school section, a central hall, a multi-workshop, and food technology facilities. The latter two spaces will feature outdoor functions in the form of an open-air workshop and outdoor kitchen to create a strong link between the outdoor areas and indoor spaces. The central hall will be the heart of the building, serving as a cohesive space that connects the various functions. Additionally, the hall will host lectures and concerts.

The first floor will accommodate staff facilities and classrooms for the middle school levels, with a direct view down into the central hall.

The roof will feature 200 m² of solar panels and three rooftop units for the building’s ventilation system. The remaining roof area will be designed as green roofing.

The outdoor area will provide a wide range of opportunities for activities and play for both school and daycare children. The facades will consist of lightweight wooden elements, clad with aluminum panels and wooden slats.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
