The renovation included environmental remediation, replacement of doors, windows and ventilation, and the creation of 165 accessible homes
Renovation of 504 public housing in Houlkærvænget in Viborg. The project also included the renovation of outdoor areas and sewerage, and the construction of a 400-sq m activity centre for residents.
The homes range from one-room apartments to four-bedroom family homes in a total of 20 three-storey blocks (including the ground floor) and basement.
Environmental remediation was carried out in all apartments and windows, doors and ventilation were replaced.
For the construction of the 165 accessible homes, everything up to the shell was demolished. Wall and horizontal divisions were demolished in order to integrate new lifts. New installations, bathrooms and kitchens were installed.
369 of the homes were occupied during the window and ventilation replacement. In 60 homes, the bathroom was replaced while the flat was occupied.
All roofs were renovated with new roofing felt, insulation, new access routes and safety lines. A 2kWp photovoltaic system was installed on the roofs, supplying the common installations for each stairwell.
As a safety measure, the height of low-brick and retaining walls was reduced to create a clear view of the surrounding land.
Nordstern was responsible for notification and other aspects of resident management. Residents were relocated when the accessible housing was built. The other apartments were occupied. Throughout the period, joint information meetings were organised for the area's residents.
