Construction of a 16-storey hotel tower for the existing City Towers in Aarhus

City Towers

Hotel tower with 161 rooms, restaurant and rooftop terrace with sky bar

City Towers in Aarhus is undergoing a comprehensive transformation and expansion, strengthening its position as a modern hotel and commercial complex. The expansion includes the construction of a new 16-story hotel tower, adding a striking architectural dimension to the city's skyline. The project is being carried out by Nordstern in collaboration with the developer CLF Lorenzen K/S and hotel operator Comwell Hotels.

The new hotel tower features 161 hotel rooms, a fitness center, meeting and conference facilities, a restaurant, and an exclusive rooftop terrace with a sky bar. On the first floor, there are eight meeting and conference rooms, providing hotel guests with the opportunity to host events and gatherings. The hotel rooms extend up to the 12th floor, while the 13th to 15th floors are dedicated to the restaurant and banquet facilities. The 16th and top floor houses a 370 m² rooftop terrace with a sky bar, offering a stunning 360-degree view of Aarhus city center.

To connect the existing City Towers with the new hotel tower, a connecting building is being constructed on the first floor. As part of the transformation, the restaurant in the original building is also being expanded by 210 m² to accommodate increased capacity and enhance the facilities for hotel guests.

Beneath the hotel tower, a 740 m² basement is being constructed, featuring an advanced automatic parking system with space for 50 cars. This improves accessibility and ensures efficient utilization of parking capacity in the busy urban area.

Nordstern previously led the construction of the existing City Towers, which was completed in 2014. This new expansion is a key part of the vision to transform and modernize the complex to meet today's demands for hotel and commercial properties.

The project follows the DGNB Manual 2020 for Hotels. City Towers is registered for DGNB certification and aims for a final DGNB Silver certification. The project is expected to be completed in September 2026.
