Expansion of the Psychiatry at Aarhus University Hospital with a forensic psychiatric ward

Nordstern is constructing an extension as part of the expansion of AUH Psychiatry, which is part of Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby, originally built by Nordstern in 2018. The expansion is being carried out as a public-private partnership (PPP) project.

The extension is a five-wing building of 4,820 sq m, constructed as an extension to the existing psychiatry building with connections between the buildings.

The building will house a new forensic psychiatric ward with patient rooms and office workspaces and meeting facilities for clinical staff.

A number of safety and security measures will be implemented in the building to prevent the smuggling of items such as drugs and to enhance the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

The project follows DGNB manual 2020 New buildings and extensive renovations. The expansion of the Psychiatry at Aarhus University Hospital is registered for a DGNB certification and is aiming for a final DGNB Gold and Heart certification.
