Construction of 206 youth housing units

Nordstern has developed and built 206 youth housing units on Amager near Copenhagen.

The five-storey Atrium building consists of two longhouses connected by a 528 sq m glass-covered atrium courtyard in the centre. The atrium serves as the centre for community and activities for the site's residents.

The units, ranging in size from 20 sq m to 43 sq m, each have their own kitchen and bathroom. On the ground floor, 319 sq m of bicycle parking, as well as waste and technical rooms, have been established.

A communal roof terrace has been created on top of the building, and the remaining roof area has been covered with solar panels and a sedum roof.

The building is constructed from concrete, with ribbed concrete facade cladding, red tiles, and aluminium slats.

The project follows DGNB manual 2016 apartment buildings and terraced houses. Atriet has undergone a pre-certification and the project is moving towards a final DGNB Gold certification. The pre-certificate is issued on 31.01.2024.
