Talent School and exhibition hall for Sportscenter Herning

The sports centre, built in 1994, has been expanded with an exhibition hall with room for 2,000 spectators. The hall is intended as a future home for elite handball. In connection with the exhibition hall, a training hall and a gym have also been built.

The Talent School is a school for 200 students in grades 7, 8 and 9 who play sports or have elite-level musical talent. The school is built on three floors and contains nine classrooms, a physics room, meeting rooms, teacher preparation, office, toilets, changing rooms and recreation areas.

The arrival area, which connects the talent school and the sports centre, is perceived from the outside as a forecourt with opportunities for lounging, seating and outdoor activities. The entrance area is established as a common entrance/multi-space for the entire centre with access to all facilities. Here, a large staircase is the focal point of the entire multi-space, which is broken up by a green courtyard that ensures good daylight and also acts as a green breathing space in the connecting corridor.
