Construction of a care centre, elderly-friendly housing and commercial

Albertshøj is Albertslund's new area, with a focus on the elderly and people with dementia. Albertshøj consists of a care centre, senior-friendly housing and shopping facilities at street level. The area is located on Albertslundvej. The third and final stage was built by Nordstern, on the corner of Albertslundvej and Vognporten.

The building has a commercial area with shops, offices and retail space, with associated offices and staff facilities, which are located on the ground floor and on the first floor. Shops and offices were built in collaboration with Centerforeningen Albertslund Centrum and Citycon.

On second floor, there are independent commercial and service areas for the nursing homes. On floor three to five there are 36 dementia-friendly nursing homes. Adjacent to the building is a high-rise building of six to ten floors with 20 senior-friendly homes. There is a roof terrace on the roof, and solar cells that serve as the building's 'fifth facade'. On third floor, there is a roof garden for the use of residents.

The goal is to create a visionary and exciting care centre focused on people with dementia. This is supported by the fact that care and welfare technology go hand in hand.

Robust, aesthetic and environmentally-friendly materials have been used that require a minimum of maintenance.

The building is laid out with great consideration for the physical ability and accessibility of the residents. The interior is also adapted to the physically disabled. The building provides the optimal framework for a working environment and well-being. The most important themes are utilisation of daylight, views and natural ventilation. The use of low-emitting building materials ensures high quality indoor climate.
