Nordstern to build senior living community in Fredericia

April 25, 2023

Nordstern has entered into an agreement with SK Ejendomsudvikling ApS for the construction of 88 new rental homes in Taulov overlooking Kolding Fjord. Rømers Park is a senior living community, where the framework for a community is a high priority.

As there are more seniors in Denmark, the demand for senior living communities increases where active seniors can cultivate the community. The vision of Rømers Park has thus been to create a type of housing where the framework for a community is given high priority – and without disturbing the privacy of the individual elderly.

In Rømers Park, the apartments are designed for seniors' everyday life and needs. For example, there are lifts in all blocks – even those that are only on two levels. The project also includes a community house, which will form the framework for social events and where guests can stay overnight. Each apartment contains a large terrace or balcony of 10-12m2, where future residents can enjoy the view of the sea towards Kolding fjord.

" We are pleased to be able to collaborate with Nordstern again on the construction of our individual development projects that we have in our portfolio. Our ongoing project in Aarhus N in collaboration with Nordstern is progressing beyond expectations, so we look forward to the same constructive cooperation for this project," says CEO and co-owner Kim Branick, SK Ejendomsudvikling ApS.

Recycled and maintenance-free materials

The Rømers Park project is certified to DGNB Silver. Several materials from the former buildings on the site will be reused in the future construction, including e.g., crushed brick and concrete, which will be re-integrated into the project. As to the design, there has also been a focus on choosing maintenance-free materials both indoors and outdoors.

Terrain and planting are varied - with a strong focus on biodiversity with flower meadows, insect oases and rainwater lakes.

"We are pleased to once again be able to collaborate with SK Ejendomsudvikling on a modern and ambitious project. The focus on modern communities, recycling and a more sustainable approach to the project will not only benefit the future residents but the entire Triangle Region," says Torben Modvig, Group CEO, Nordstern.

The first sod on the project has been turned, and the last apartments will be handed over to the developer in October 2024.
