Nordstern and AMBright Join Forces for Housing Project
September 19, 2024
Nordstern and AMBright have just launched the first housing project on the former "JP site" at Viby Bakke in Aarhus. The project marks the beginning of an entirely new district, which will include a variety of housing types and recreational areas.
Nordstern acquired the "JP site" earlier this year and has since been working intensively on the development of the area. The project now initiated will not stand alone but will be part of a larger vision that includes a new district with a mix of housing and public spaces.
In the first phase of development, approximately 100 rental apartments with a total area of about 7,500 square meters will be built. Planning and demolition are already underway, and construction of the new district is expected to start in the first quarter of 2025 and be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026.
The new housing project at Viby Bakke will create an attractive urban area close to Aarhus city center. The location, just a few kilometers from downtown, with walking distance to recreational areas around Brabrand Path and easy access to the motorway network, makes it an ideal spot for both families and young people.
Strong Partnership in a Challenging Market
In the current market, characterized by uncertainty and discussions about vacancies and empty homes in Aarhus, it is crucial to think creatively and find strong partners. This is a task that Nordstern and the investment company AMBright have accomplished with this project. AMBright, which has several wealthy investors in its ownership group, looks forward to contributing to the development of the JP site in Aarhus South with this project:
"We chose to invest in this project because we believe in the location and the great potential in this area. Unlike many other areas in Aarhus, only a limited number of new homes have been built in South City. It’s an exciting project, and we look forward to seeing the new district take shape. In a challenging market where it can be difficult to find the right investments, it is important for us to partner with a company like Nordstern, which has the ability and experience to manage the development and construction phases of such large tasks," says Bo Refsgaard, Director and Partner at AMBright.
Nordstern is pleased with the trust AMBright has shown by entering this joint venture and looks forward to a close and productive collaboration.
"We are very happy with the trust AMBright has shown us by joining this project together with us. We have worked together before and look forward to strengthening this close cooperation and hope that this is just one of several similar projects in the future. In a market that requires creativity and resilience, it is crucial to have a partner like AMBright who shares our vision and ambitions," says Torben Modvig, Group CEO of Nordstern.
The project at Viby Bakke is expected to be certified DGNB Gold, ensuring that the construction meets high standards in terms of sustainability and quality. This certification covers environmental, economic, and social aspects, and emphasizes Nordstern's commitment to delivering responsible construction.
