Industriens Pension and Nordstern break ground on a new large-scale office building in Nordhavn, Copenhagen
December 3, 2024
Industriens Pension and the turnkey contractor Nordstern are commencing the construction of a new domicile for the law firm Bruun & Hjejle in Nordhavn, Copenhagen. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Monday, December 2.
Large construction cranes and excavators are ready, the building permit has been secured, and over the next few years, a new Platinum-certified office domicile will rise in Nordhavn, Copenhagen.
The groundbreaking for the new domicile for Bruun & Hjejle will take place on Monday, December 2. With this, the developer Industriens Pension and project developer Nordstern are initiating a centrally located project near the Orientkaj metro station, expected to be completed in the beginning of 2027.
The building has been designed by the architectural firm Henning Larsen and is anticipated to receive DGNB Platinum certification—the highest level in the DGNB system. This certification requires the project to meet stringent environmental and social standards, contributing to a good working environment.
“It is a great pleasure to begin the construction of a building that meets DGNB Platinum, DGNB Diamond, and DGNB Heart standards. We get a future-proof office building that will create optimal conditions for Bruun & Hjejle's employees while meeting high standards for energy efficiency, indoor climate, and architectural quality,” says Property Manager at Industriens Pension, Søren Tang Kristensen,.
Horseshoe shape with a green courtyard
The office building will be located 200 meters from the Orientkaj metro station in Nordhavn. Bruun & Hjejle has signed a 10-year lease for the entire property.
The six-story office building will have a total area of over 14,000 m², including a basement of 2,500 m². The building is being constructed as a multi-user building based on principles of flexibility, which in the long term allows the building to be divided into multiple leases. The building is designed in a horseshoe shape, with the floors surrounding a centrally located green courtyard.
“The construction of this office domicile is the result of strong collaboration between Industriens Pension, By & Havn, Copenhagen Municipality, our skilled partners, and Nordstern’s own team. It demonstrates what can be achieved when visions and trust go hand in hand in developing the buildings of the future. We look forward to welcoming Bruun & Hjejle to their new premises,” says Torben Modvig, Group CEO of Nordstern.
An attractive opportunity for Bruun & Hjejle
Bruun & Hjejle is scheduled to move into the new domicile in the beginning of 2027. Previously, the building was intended to be the domicile for the law firm Lundgrens, but plans changed, and an attractive opportunity arose for Bruun & Hjejle to move into a domicile that perfectly suits their needs created by recent years of growth.
“In recent years, we have experienced high demand for our advisory services and can see reasonable growth in our business, particularly in the areas of complex disputes and transactions within several industries. With the new domicile, we can further support our operations in fantastic facilities that benefit both clients and employees. We look forward to contributing to the development of the domicile and collaborating with Nordstern and Industriens Pension,” says Christian Johansen, managing partner at Bruun & Hjejle.
The total project value is not public, but Industriens Pension is expected to invest a large three-digit million amount in the project.
